Glue, Glue and more GLUE!!
Every Year, thousands of empty plastic glue bottles get thrown away to sit in a landfill for many years. Making your own glue will not only save the planet, but it will also save you money.
Here are 2 recipes that are super simple and they make complete sense.
I am so thankful that a friend of mine introduced me to this liquid, simple and “makes sense” recipe.
Liquid Glue Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1 ½ Cups Water
- ½ Cup Sugar
- 1 tsp. Vinegar
- Few Drops of Essential oil of choice (optional)
- Old Glue Container
Clean out old glue bottle by washing with hot water.
Mix together and add to an old glue bottle. Enjoy!
Glue Stick Ingredients:
- 5 Tbls. Corn Starch
- 5 Cups Water
- Few Drops food coloring of choice
- Few Drops of Essential Oil of Choice (optional)
- Old Glue Stick Containers
Clean out old glue by using hot water and a pipe cleaner if needed.
Mix the corn starch and water in a sauce pan and heat on high. Stir until the solution is completely combined. (Also add a few drops of food coloring at this time for colored glue.)
Let the solution sit until it starts to boil. Reduce the heat to below medium and stir vigorously for 3-5 minutes.
Let the solution sit and slowly cool off while still on the burner with heat for 10-15 minutes.
The solution should start to thicken.
Remove the sauce pan from all heat and let it sit for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the solution has turned to a thick sludge, add essential oil – just a drop or two, mix and fill it into the empty glue stick containers.
Let the glue sticks sit for another 6-8 hours before using.
*If your glue is to runny try another batch with more corn starch and less water.
